An Education (2009)

Jenny is sixteen, clever and bored, living in the London suburbs with parents who have pinned everything on her getting into Oxford. Then she meets David, a charming man twice her age, who takes her to concerts, clubs, art auctions and even Paris, and introduces her to his glamorous friends. Her parents are won over, her teachers are alarmed, and Jenny has to decide what kind of education she really wants. An Education is a British coming-of-age drama directed by Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig, adapted by novelist Nick Hornby from journalist Lynn Barber's memoir. It made a star of Carey Mulligan, who won the BAFTA for Best Actress and was nominated for the Academy Award; the film was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. Its early-1960s London is lovingly recreated.
