Dekhi Teri Bombai (1961)

Dekhi Teri Bombai is a 1961 Hindi film starring Daljit, Purnima and Shammi. As its title, roughly "I've seen your Bombay", suggests, it belongs to the popular strand of films about the city as both dream and trap, in which a newcomer arrives full of hope and meets crooks, hardship and temptation along with kindness. Purnima, a familiar face in Hindi films of the 1950s and 60s, and Shammi, best known for her comic roles, lend support to Daljit. Details of the story are not widely documented, and the film survives mainly as a small black-and-white curiosity of its period.
