Aja grows up poor in Mumbai, living by his wits as a street conjuror and dreaming of Paris, where his unknown father is said to have gone. When he finally gets there, he falls for an American woman, Marie, in a giant furniture store, decides to spend the night inside a wardrobe, and wakes up packed and shipped abroad. From there his journey carries him across Europe and as far as North Africa, among migrants, a film star and border police, each stop teaching him something about kindness and chance. Directed by Canadian filmmaker Ken Scott and adapted from Romain Puértolas's bestselling French novel, the film was Dhanush's first English-language international film. It mixes fable, comedy, romance and a little Bollywood-style dancing.
