Adimakal Udamakal (1987)

Adimakal Udamakal ("slaves and masters") is a Malayalam political drama directed by I. V. Sasi from a script by T. Damodaran, the pair behind many of the era's socially charged hits. Set around a factory and the struggle between its owners and workers, it follows union politics, betrayals and the price of standing up for labour, with Mammootty and Mohanlal in major roles and Nalini as the female lead. It is one of several 1980s films that paired the two stars at the height of their rise and reflects the strong left-leaning politics of Malayalam cinema of the time.
