Description

Rishi Kapoor plays a version of himself in this satire: the residents of the small town of Hadbahedi claim him as a native son and invite him back, hoping a visit from the film star will put their town on the map and bring money and development. Rishi accepts, and soon finds himself the target of schemes by everyone from local politicians to ordinary citizens who want a piece of his celebrity. Chintu Ji, named after Rishi Kapoor's well-known nickname, was written and directed by playwright Ranjit Kapoor, and it pokes fun at stardom, small-town opportunism and politics. Rishi Kapoor's willingness to laugh at his own image is the film's chief charm.
