Description

Chanchala, an honest IAS officer, has been in prison for a crime involving her fiancé. A CBI officer has her moved in secret to a crumbling old palace in the forest, Bhaagamathie Bungalow, to question her about a popular minister, Eshwar Prasad, whom the government wants to bring down. The palace is said to be haunted by Bhaagamathie, a queen who died there, and soon Chanchala begins hearing voices, seeing visions and behaving as if she were the queen herself. Is it the ghost, a breakdown, or something else? Bhaagamathie mixes horror with a political conspiracy thriller, and was a big hit for Anushka Shetty after Baahubali. It was made in Telugu and Tamil and remade in Hindi as Durgamati (2020).
