Alluri Seetharama Raju, named after the famous revolutionary, is an upright sub-inspector whose refusal to bend the rules makes him enemies wherever he is posted. The film follows him across several stations and years, from small-town cases to a dangerous fight with criminals who have political protection, and shows what his integrity costs him at home and in his marriage. Told as an episodic cop drama rather than a single case, it gives Sree Vishnu, usually seen in lighter roles, a serious, physical part. Kayadu Lohar made her Telugu debut as the heroine.
