Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan (2014)

Jai Jawaan Jai Kisaan ("Hail the soldier, hail the farmer") takes its title from the slogan raised by Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1965, which honoured the two groups he saw as the backbone of the nation. The 2014 film brings together veterans Om Puri, Prem Chopra and Rati Agnihotri in a patriotic drama built around those ideals, with themes of national service, rural hardship and integrity in public life. It is a modestly produced film, and little else is widely documented about it, but its cast of seasoned actors is its main attraction.
