Colonel Mahadevan, the army officer Mohanlal has played in several of Major Ravi's war films, is serving on a peacekeeping mission when an encounter with a Pakistani officer sends the story back to the 1971 India-Pakistan war. There we follow Major Sahadevan, Mahadevan's father, also played by Mohanlal, as he leads his tank unit on the western front, facing an enemy commander who is as honourable as he is formidable. The film looks at war as a tragedy for soldiers on both sides rather than as simple heroics. It is the fourth in Major Ravi's Mahadevan series after Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra and Kandahar, and it was Telugu actor Allu Sirish's Malayalam debut. Arunoday Singh plays the Pakistani officer.
