Nirmal Kumar is a quiet, unremarkable man until he abducts Rohan, the schoolboy son of India's Home Minister, and disappears with him. While a special officer, Nachiket Verma, leads a frantic hunt, Nirmal and the boy travel across the country, and an odd bond grows between kidnapper and hostage. Through his demands, Nirmal forces the government to face a collapse that destroyed his own family, and the case turns into a public reckoning on accountability and corruption. Irrfan Khan gives a restrained, wounded performance in the role, and Jimmy Sheirgill is sharp as the investigator. Nishikant Kamat, who had earlier made Mumbai Meri Jaan, returns to the anger of the common man against an indifferent system, a theme that also ran through his earlier work.
