Superman (1987)

This 1987 film is an unlicensed Hindi take on the Superman story. A child is sent to Earth from a doomed planet by his father, played by Dharmendra, and grows up in India unaware of his powers. As a young man, played by Puneet Issar, he learns who he is and takes on a gang of villains led by Shakti Kapoor, flying through cardboard skies on homemade effects. Puneet Issar, better known for playing Duryodhana in the TV Mahabharata, makes an unusual caped hero, and the film has gained a following as a cult curiosity of 1980s Hindi B-cinema, enjoyed today as much for its low-budget charm as for its action.
