Venky and his friends are unemployed, broke and full of schemes, and their one big plan is to get selected as police constables. Their luck seems to turn on a train journey full of chaos, where Venky also falls for the girl played by Sneha, but things go badly wrong when a murder is committed and the gang end up framed for it. To clear their names, they have to outwit a powerful and violent enemy and the police who are hunting them. Venky was one of Ravi Teja's biggest early hits, and Srinu Vaitla's blend of crime plot and nonstop comedy became the template for many of his later films. The long train sequence with Brahmanandam and the comedians is still remembered as one of the funniest stretches in Telugu cinema, and Devi Sri Prasad's songs were popular.
