Gabbar Singh (2012)

Venkataratnam Naidu grew up loving Sholay so much that he renamed himself Gabbar Singh. Now a police inspector in his home town of Kondaveedu, he rules it his own way, with wisecracks, swagger and sudden bursts of violence, while caring for his mother and nursing old wounds within his family. When the local strongman Siddhappa Naidu sets out to enter politics, Gabbar Singh becomes the one obstacle in his path. The film is the Telugu remake of the Hindi hit Dabangg, rewritten freely by Harish Shankar, and it was a huge blockbuster that revived Pawan Kalyan's career. Devi Sri Prasad's songs were massive hits, and the comic antakshari sequence at the police station is among its most loved scenes.
