Meharbaani (1982)

Meharbaani ("kindness" or "favour") is a modest Hindi drama from 1982 with Sarika in the female lead opposite Mahendra Sandhu, an actor best remembered for the Agent Vinod spy films of the late 1970s. It was directed by Ajit Singh Deol, the younger brother of Dharmendra, who acted in and made films in both Hindi and Punjabi. The film is a small, little-documented production of its era, worth a look mainly for admirers of Sarika, who was then moving from her child-star years into adult heroine roles, and for viewers interested in the lesser-known corners of early-1980s Hindi cinema.
