In Toronto, Shekhar, a young businessman, accidentally runs over Amar in a car accident. Consumed by guilt, he seeks out Amar's grieving fiancée Pia and quietly begins helping her save her family's struggling business, without telling her who he is. As they work together they grow close, but Pia is also being courted by the charming Abhigyan, and Shekhar's secret hangs over everything. Tum Bin ("without you") was the first film of Anubhav Sinha, made with newcomers, and became a surprise hit on the strength of its gentle story and soundtrack. Nikhil-Vinay's songs, including "Koi Fariyaad" sung by Jagjit Singh and "Tum Bin Jiya Jaye Kaise", remain hugely popular.
