Taxi Taxie (1977)

Taxi Taxie is a Hindi comedy-drama from 1977 starring Amol Palekar, the face of the middle-class "common man" cinema of the 1970s, as a mild-mannered taxi driver in Bombay. Romance, comic misunderstandings and small moral dilemmas come his way through the people he meets on his rounds, with Zarina Wahab and Reena Roy in the female roles. It belongs to the light, realistic strand of Hindi films of the era built around ordinary city lives, the same space Palekar occupied in Chhoti Si Baat and Rajnigandha.
