The hero is a fearless welder in Chennai who falls for a spirited young woman, played by Asin. When her family insists on knowing who he really is, his story comes out: he grew up in Sivakasi, the town of fireworks factories, and left home as a boy after a bitter conflict with his elder brother, a powerful and selfish man played by Prakash Raj. Returning, he sets out to set right the wrongs done to his mother. Perarasu's film was a Diwali 2005 release and a hit, thanks to Vijay's mass appeal, heavy sentiment and loud action. Srikanth Deva's songs were popular, especially "Kodambakkam Area", which featured Nayanthara in a special appearance.
