Happy Singh is a carefree Sikh youngster from Punjab who lands in Kerala and loses his heart to a girl from a conservative Malayali Christian family. Neither family is pleased, and the couple's attempts to win everybody over lead to a long series of comic misunderstandings, cross-cultural clashes and wedding chaos. Happy Sardar is a light, colourful romantic comedy built on the north-meets-south premise, with Kalidas Jayaram, son of actor Jayaram, in an early lead role and Bollywood comedian Javed Jaffrey in a Malayalam film. Music is by Gopi Sundar. It was directed by the husband-and-wife team of Sudip Joshy and Geethika Sudip. It suits viewers who like breezy cultural-clash comedies in the vein of 2 States, with plenty of songs and a festive feel.
