Arul (2004)

Arul is a 2004 Tamil action drama written and directed by Hari, a specialist in fast, loud, family-centred masala films. Vikram plays Arul, a hot-headed but good-hearted young man who stands up to a violent strongman, played by Pasupathy, whose gang rules the area through fear. Jyothika is the heroine and Vadivelu supplies the comedy. The film came out at the height of Vikram's run as a mass hero after Dhill, Dhool and Saamy, and its songs by Harris Jayaraj were popular.
