Puneeth Rajkumar plays a man who, with a friend, escapes from the asylum where he had been confined and slips into the anonymity of a big city. The two find work, make new friends and begin to rebuild their lives, and a romance blossoms with Bhavana's character. But the hero was not put away by chance: relatives with designs on family property are determined to get him back, and his past slowly catches up with him. Yaare Koogadali is the Kannada remake of Samuthirakani's own Tamil film Poraali, directed again by him, and mixes social drama, friendship, comedy from Yogesh and Puneeth's action and dance skills. The title comes from a popular song of Puneeth's father, Dr. Rajkumar.
