On a trip into the forest, a group of IT employees meet a mystic who gives them a copy of a newspaper dated months ahead. In it they read that a boxer named Peter has won a big championship and its prize money. They find Peter, a carefree, jobless young man from a Chennai neighbourhood, and offer to back him in the contest, sharing the prize. The problem is that Peter knows nothing about boxing, and he has only signed up to impress Yazhini, a woman who loves the sport. Maan Karate is a light Sivakarthikeyan comedy produced from a story by A. R. Murugadoss, and Anirudh's songs, including Darling Dambakku, were hits.
