Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool (1969)

Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool ("tears turned to flowers") is a social drama directed by Satyen Bose, based on a well-known Marathi play by Vasant Kanetkar. Ashok Kumar plays a principled man of education and Deb Mukherjee a young man whose path goes astray, while Pran plays a rough figure from the margins whose hidden decency comes to the surface. The film explores honour, redemption and the ties between the generations. Pran's performance won him the Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actor, one of the roles that helped him break out of pure villainy, and Laxmikant–Pyarelal composed the music.
