Siddharth is a student and social activist in Warangal who fights for the poor and rallies people against injustice. He comes up against Pappu Yadav, a violent, ambitious local politician who has decided he wants to marry a young woman, played by Trisha, whatever she or her family think. When Siddharth takes her side, the clash becomes a battle for the whole community. Sainikudu ("soldier") was a big-budget production directed by Gunasekhar after Okkadu, with lavish sets and songs by Harris Jayaraj. It is notable for Irrfan Khan's only Telugu role, as the swaggering Pappu Yadav. Despite the scale, it was a box-office disappointment.
