Aadhavan is a professional assassin, cool and efficient, hired to kill a judge whose inquiry into a child-trafficking racket threatens powerful people. When his first attempt fails, he gets himself taken into the judge's large joint family as a servant, waiting for a second chance. Inside the house he charms the elders, wins the heart of the judge's relative Tara and starts to ask questions about his own past, while the men who hired him grow impatient. K. S. Ravikumar's crowd-pleaser mixes action with long stretches of family comedy, much of it carried by Vadivelu, who has a famous scene with Suriya as a boy. The film marked the return of veteran star B. Saroja Devi to Tamil screens after many years, and Harris Jayaraj's songs, including Hasili Fisiliye, were popular hits.
