Late one night, the body of Maya, a wealthy and domineering businesswoman, disappears from the city morgue. Inspector Jairaj Pawar, a veteran with a talent for reading people, is called in and quickly fixes his attention on her husband Ajay, a younger man who seems far less upset than a widower should be. Over a single long night of questioning at the morgue, flashbacks reveal the strained marriage, Ajay's affair with a young woman, and the reasons someone might want Maya gone, while strange signs suggest the dead woman may not be finished with him. The Body is a Hindi remake of the Spanish thriller El Cuerpo (2012), directed by Jeethu Joseph of Drishyam fame, and was shot in Mauritius. It was among Rishi Kapoor's last films released in his lifetime.
