Vedam (2010)

A slum boy who dreams of a rich girlfriend, a sex worker trying to escape her brothel, a rock singer and his bandmates stuck on the road, an old weaver desperate to free his grandson from bonded labour, and a Muslim man worn down by suspicion: their separate journeys run in parallel until they all end up at the same hospital on New Year's Eve, where something terrible is about to happen. Vedam ("Veda") is an ensemble drama in the hyperlink style, written and directed by Krish, and it was widely hailed as one of the best Telugu films of its decade. It won the Filmfare Awards for Best Telugu Film and Best Director, and Krish remade it in Tamil as Vaanam (2011). Manoj Bajpayee's Telugu performance and Anushka's Saroja were especially praised.
