Custody (2023)

In 1990s coastal Andhra Pradesh, Shiva is a dutiful young constable who has little more ambition than marrying his sweetheart Revathi. One night he arrests Raju, a notorious gangster, and realises that Raju is the key witness in a case against a powerful Chief Minister. Suddenly the police force, hired killers and the government itself want Raju dead, and Shiva sets out to deliver him to court in Bengaluru alive. Custody was a Telugu-Tamil bilingual and Venkat Prabhu's first Telugu film, with father and son Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja composing together. Arvind Swami's wry, chatty gangster makes a lively foil to Naga Chaitanya's earnest hero.
