Uday is the easy-going son of a wealthy family who spends his days with friends and no particular plans. When he sees Sandhya, a reserved young woman, he falls for her instantly and begins an earnest campaign to win her over, which she resists for reasons she will not explain. As he slowly breaks down her guard, the light romantic comedy gives way to a more emotional love story. Oy! marked the return of Shamili, the celebrated child star of Mani Ratnam's Anjali, as a leading lady, and was the directing debut of cinematographer Anand Ranga. Yuvan Shankar Raja's songs were popular.
