Vikram Rao is a famous singer and composer who teaches music at a school in the hills. He discovers an extraordinarily talented young student, Tina, and begins to mentor her, but as her voice wins admiration and she starts to move into a world that was once his alone, his pride and insecurity begin to poison their relationship. The film is a study of ego and art, more interested in feeling than in melodrama. Pop singer Lucky Ali plays the lead in one of his few acting roles, and Gauri Karnik made her debut as Tina. M. M. Kreem's soundtrack, with songs such as Aa Bhi Ja, Kabhi Shaam Dhale and Dil Mein Jaagi Dhadkan, was one of the most loved Hindi film albums of its year.
