Suhaan is a struggling actor who owes alimony to his ex-wife Piya. When he meets Agastya, a nerdy, painfully shy man who has loved Piya since college, Suhaan sees a chance: if Agastya marries her, the payments stop. He coaches Agastya and sends him off to New York, where Piya now lives, guiding him with dubious advice, but old feelings have a way of resurfacing. Jaan-E-Mann was the directing debut of Shirish Kunder, previously a film editor, and is known for its playful, theatrical style, with stagey sets, breaks in the fourth wall and songs woven into the storytelling. Anu Malik's soundtrack and Akshay Kumar's comic turn as the shy suitor are highlights.
