Star (2001)

Star is a 2001 Tamil action film directed by Praveen Gandhi, who had earlier worked with Prashanth on Jodi. Prashanth plays a spirited young man whose romance with the character played by Jyothika plays out against a conflict that pulls him into fights with powerful men, and Raghuvaran, one of the most distinctive screen presences of Tamil cinema, adds weight to the drama. The film follows the commercial formula of its time, mixing romance, comedy, action and song, and its soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman. It came at the height of Prashanth's popularity as a romantic and action lead, and in the same years Jyothika was establishing herself as one of the busiest heroines in Tamil films.
