Moodar Koodam (2013)

Moodar Koodam ("gathering of fools") follows four losers in Chennai, each with a sad back-story, who meet by chance in a police station and decide to change their luck by burgling the house of a wealthy man. The robbery goes wrong almost immediately, and they find themselves holding the family captive inside the house for days. As the hours drag on, captors and captives start learning uncomfortable things about each other, and the film mixes deadpan comedy with sharp comments on money, education and the way society treats its failures. It was the debut of writer-director Naveen, who also plays one of the four, and became a cult favourite for its offbeat humour; he later made Agni Siragugal. Oviya plays the daughter of the house.
