Bhageeratha takes its name from the mythical king who brought the river Ganga down to earth through sheer perseverance. Ravi Teja plays a young man who, in that spirit, sets out to transform a backward village, bringing roads and facilities to people who have been left behind, while Prakash Raj plays the influential man standing in his way. Shriya Saran is the heroine. The film was the directorial debut of cinematographer Rasool Ellore and combines Ravi Teja's trademark energy and humour with a message about determination and rural development.
