Raavan (1984)

Raavan is a 1984 Hindi film directed by Johny Bakshi with Smita Patil and Om Puri, the two actors most closely associated with the realist cinema of the early 1980s, together with Gulshan Arora. The title, the name of the demon king of the Ramayana, points to a story about a man who becomes a force of menace in the lives of those around him. It is one of the less-seen titles in the filmographies of both leads, and is of interest mainly to admirers of their work.
