Description

Roshan has grown up in New York, but when his grandmother learns she is ill she wants to die in her ancestral home in Chandni Chowk, so he takes her back. Living among the bickering, warm-hearted neighbours of the old city, he discovers a world of rooftop pigeons, Ramlila performances, feuding brothers and Bittu, a spirited young woman who dreams of escaping to become a singer. Then a panic spreads about a mysterious "Kala Bandar" (black monkey) attacking people at night, and old suspicions between Hindus and Muslims begin to resurface. Delhi-6, named after the old city's postal code, was Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's follow-up to Rang De Basanti. A. R. Rahman's soundtrack, with "Masakali", "Genda Phool" and "Arziyan", is one of his most celebrated, and the film won the National Award for Best Film on National Integration.
