Karthik first falls for Anjali when they are schoolchildren in a small town, and the innocent bond between them is broken off when circumstances separate them. They meet again as young adults, and the old feeling returns with a new intensity, but misunderstandings and their own choices pull them apart once more. Years later, both now older and carrying their own disappointments, they cross paths one more time. Malli Raava, meaning 'won't you come again', moves back and forth between the three periods of their lives, letting the audience piece the story together. It was the debut of writer-director Gowtam Tinnanuri, who later made Jersey, and was welcomed as a quiet, mature romance and a well-received film for Sumanth.
