Aishwarya grew up poor and has decided that she will marry only a very rich man. When she meets Karthik, a fitness trainer, at a fancy event, she assumes he is wealthy and falls for him; when she learns the truth, she ends things and gets engaged to a rich businessman. Hurt and angry, Karthik decides to make her see what she has done, and to sabotage the match at every turn, which soon blurs the line between revenge and love. Romeo Juliet was the directorial debut of Lakshman, who later made Bogan with Jayam Ravi, and was a hit, helped by D. Imman's songs, including the dance number 'Dandanakka'.
