Baldev Pratap Singh is a powerful politician in a small Uttar Pradesh constituency, a man who has built his position over decades and married a widow, raising her son Ayush as his own political successor. His own son Vivaan, spoilt and resentful, cannot accept being passed over, and as an election approaches, old enemies, ambitious allies and a single reckless act set the family on course for disaster. Deva Katta remade his own acclaimed Telugu political drama Prasthanam (2010) in Hindi, and the story borrows its shape from the Mahabharata, with Sanjay Dutt as a patriarch caught between duty and blood. It was produced by Sanjay Dutt's wife Maanayata, and reunited him with Manisha Koirala and Jackie Shroff, his co-stars from the 1990s.
