Pugazh seems to be a fun-loving young man, but he is quietly hunting a group of powerful criminals. On the way he falls for a young woman who happens to be close to one of them, and the chase takes him abroad. A flashback reveals the truth: his father, Major Saravanan, an army officer, was betrayed and branded a traitor, and Pugazh has sworn to restore his honour. Villu was the second film Prabhu Deva directed with Vijay after the hit Pokkiri, and gives Vijay a double role as father and son. Devi Sri Prasad's songs and Vadivelu's comedy track were among its draws.
