Kaashi works at the cremation ghats of Banaras, tending pyres like his family before him, and lives for his younger sister Ganga. When Ganga suddenly disappears, the police show little interest, and Kaashi's search leads him into a web of lies involving influential people. A young Delhi journalist, Devina, takes up his cause, and together they push for the truth while the city's officials and the courts seem to doubt that Ganga ever existed. Sharman Joshi, best known for comedies such as 3 Idiots and Golmaal, takes on a rough, intense role, with Aishwarya Devan opposite him and veteran character actors Manoj Joshi, Govind Namdev and Akhilendra Mishra in support. The film makes strong use of its Varanasi locations, especially the ghats along the river.
