Family of Thakurganj (2019)

In the dusty town of Thakurganj, Nannu is a small-time strongman who has made his name in crime, while his younger brother Munnu has stayed straight and become a teacher. Their mother and Nannu's wife Sharbati want a respectable life for the family, but Nannu is drawn ever deeper into the town's power games, and a rival who wants him gone threatens to drag the honest brother into the violence too. The film is a heartland crime drama in the mould of the UP gangster films of the 2010s, built around Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill, who had earlier been paired in the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster series, with Saurabh Shukla and Pawan Malhotra in support.
