Sundarakanda (1992)

Venkatesh plays a mild-mannered, rather old-fashioned lecturer who joins a college and finds himself the target of a band of cheeky students, led by a girl (Aparna) who decides she is going to marry him. Her pranks and his embarrassment make up much of the fun, but he has eyes for someone else, played by Meena, and the comedy slowly turns more emotional as the student's infatuation deepens. Sundarakanda was a remake of K. Bhagyaraj's Tamil hit Sundara Kandam and was itself a success, with popular songs by M. M. Keeravani and K. Raghavendra Rao's colourful staging. The same story was remade in Hindi as Andaz with Anil Kapoor.
