Arjun dreams of becoming a movie hero and spends his days auditioning and practising. His love life is complicated by the fact that the girl he adores has a formidable father who is not impressed by out-of-work actors. Then a parcel meant for someone else lands on his doorstep containing a gun, and Arjun finds himself caught between gangsters, a hitman's assignment and the girl's family, with the line between film-style heroics and real danger blurring fast. Hero was the debut of Ashok Galla, nephew of Mahesh Babu, produced by his mother Padmavathi Galla, and its teasing nods to Telugu cinema clichés are part of the fun. Jagapathi Babu plays the heroine's father.
