Kanthaswamy is a sharp CBI officer investigating black money hoarded by powerful men. Unknown to his colleagues, he is also the masked figure behind a phenomenon sweeping the region: villagers who write their troubles on prayer slips at a temple find their wishes mysteriously granted, funded by money taken from the corrupt. His two lives become harder to keep apart as a spirited young woman, played by Shriya Saran, enters his life. Susi Ganesan's film was one of the most expensive Tamil productions of its time, shot partly in Mexico, and is known for Vikram's flamboyant rooster-masked costume and his singing of "Excuse Me Mr. Kanthaswamy" to Devi Sri Prasad's music. Vadivelu adds the comic relief.
