Vasu runs a money-lending business in Coimbatore after falling out with his mother and the wealthy family he grew up in. He falls for Divya, a cheerful young woman, and life seems settled until he crosses paths with Anna Thandavam, a ruthless gangster from Bihar with political cover who has taken on the local police chief Sivakozhundhu. When the gangster's men attack people Vasu cares about, he goes after the whole operation, a fight that eventually takes him north and back towards the family he left. Poojai is a typical Hari film: loud, fast, full of chases and family sentiment, with Hari's trademark speeding cameras and jump cuts. It was Vishal's second film with the director after Thaamirabharani and was produced by Vishal himself. It opened on Diwali 2014.
