Pandu lives for pleasure: he neglects his devoted parents and his wife, chases a dancer, and mocks the god his family worships. His life begins to fall apart, and through a series of trials and miracles he comes face to face with Lord Panduranga, the form of Krishna worshipped at Pandharpur, and slowly becomes a devotee whose faith is tested again and again. Pandurangadu is a devotional film from K. Raghavendra Rao, who made a speciality of the genre in his later career, and is a new version of the classic Panduranga Mahatyam (1957), in which Balakrishna's father N. T. Rama Rao starred. Balakrishna plays both the sinner turned saint and the god, Sneha plays his wife and Tabu plays the temptress, and M. M. Keeravani's devotional songs are the main attraction.
