Vasantam (2003)

Vasantam is a 2003 Telugu family drama written and directed by Vikraman, the Tamil filmmaker known for warm, sentimental films about sacrifice and friendship such as Poove Unakkaga and Suryavamsam. Venkatesh plays a young man whose bond with his closest friend and his friend's family is the centre of his life. When love enters the picture, with Aarti Agarwal and Kalyani as the two women in his story, he has to choose between his own feelings and his loyalty to that friendship. The film has no villains in the usual sense; its drama comes from misunderstanding, duty and goodness, and it moves at an unhurried pace with melodious songs. Venkatesh, then at the peak of his family-audience popularity, gives a restrained performance, and the film was a hit with family audiences.
