Spyder (2017)

Shiva works in a government intelligence unit that taps phone calls, and against the rules he uses software of his own to listen for people in distress and help them before harm is done. One case leads him to Sudalai, a man who since childhood has found joy in the screams of the grieving and who kills on a terrifying scale. Shiva sets out to stop him, and the hunt turns into a duel of wits. Made by A. R. Murugadoss as a Telugu-Tamil bilingual, Spyder was Mahesh Babu's Tamil debut and one of the most expensive South Indian films of its year. S. J. Suryah's chilling Sudalai was widely praised, and Santosh Sivan shot the film.
