Three young men move into a middle-class colony in Hyderabad and are soon part of its gang of friends, a mix of college students and first-jobbers who spend their evenings on rooftops, cricket and endless talk. Over one summer, friendships form across class lines, romances begin awkwardly, and the young people find themselves standing up to a well-off group from a gated community nearby. Families, money worries and first loves all pull at them, and the film moves gently between laughter and heartbreak. Life Is Beautiful is a typical Sekhar Kammula ensemble in the spirit of his earlier Happy Days, built around fresh faces rather than stars, with Mickey J. Meyer's songs carrying the mood. It is also remembered as Amala Akkineni's return to Telugu cinema after many years away, playing a mother.
