Madhumitha, who works at a video-game company in Chennai, begins to have vivid memories of earlier lives: as a girl in 1960s Burma who fell for a young worker named Murugappa, and in 1980s Chennai with a hot-headed youth called Kaali. Each time their love was cut short, and when she meets her colleague Ashwin she becomes convinced he is the same soul, which draws them into a dangerous present-day conspiracy. Dhanush plays the lover in every era, and Amyra Dastur, in her first Tamil film, plays the heroine through all of them. Veteran star Karthik plays against type as Ashwin's boss. Directed by former cinematographer K. V. Anand, the film is a stylish mix of reincarnation romance and thriller, and Harris Jayaraj's song "Danga Maari Oodhari" became a big hit. It was dubbed into Telugu and Kannada as Anekudu.
